Frequently Asked Questions
What is a cottage kitchen?
A cottage kitchen is a home-based kitchen where foods are made for sale, typically by small-scale bakers. These kitchens operate under "cottage food laws," which exist in many states to allow individuals to sell homemade, shelf-stable foods directly to consumers without needing a commercial kitchen or food manufacturing license.
In Colorado, the Colorado Cottage Foods Act allows home bakers to sell specific low-risk foods—like cookies, breads, and fruit pies—made in their own kitchens, as long as they’re properly labeled and the food producer receives a food handling certification.
Do you bake gluten-free cookies?
We can bake your cookies with gluten-free ingredients (and trust us—they are tasty!); however, like most restaurants, our kitchen is not a dedicated gluten-free space, which means cross-contamination with regular flour is possible. If you or your recipient has a serious gluten allergy or sensitivity, please consider this before ordering.
How long will my cookies stay fresh once I get them?
All of our cookies are individually heat sealed in cellophane bags, which will keep your cookies super fresh for at least 1 week. You can extend their freshness by freezing. See our Cookie Card card for more details on caring for and storing your cookies.
How can I get my cookies? Do you deliver or ship?
We primarily operate as a pick-up business in Lafayette, CO at our contactless cookie cart.
However, in rare instances, we may be able to deliver orders for a fee within the 80026 zip code. Please see The Cookie Contract for additional details and conditions with regards to delivery.
Unfortunately, the Colorado Cottage Foods Act does not allow cottage bakers to ship products out of the state; however, if you need your cookies shipped within Colorado, reach out and we can discuss options!
What if I want to change the details of my order?
Changes to your order can be made up to 3 weeks before your scheduled pick-up date. After that, we may not be able to accommodate changes, or a change fee might apply.
Do you offer refunds?
It’s… crumblicated.
Did you place an order less than 24 hours ago? Yes! We give full refunds for orders cancelled within 24 hours of payment received
Already placed an order, but are beyond 24 hours of order placement? Nope, but the good news is you still get the cookies!
Need to change your pick-up date? No problem… just give us a shout ASAP. If your cookies have already been baked and decorated, we can freeze and store them for up to 2 weeks (don’t worry… freezing won’t mess with the yum!)
Picked up your order and have a problem? Reach out and we will do everything in our power to make it right!
How can I make payment?
We accept payment through Squarespace (which accepts major credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Stripe, and ACH direct debit) and Venmo.
Are there any designs you won’t create?
Unfortunately, we’re unable to create cookies featuring copyrighted characters (think Disney, Marvel, etc.) — as fun as they are to make, small bakeries can face legal trouble for using protected designs.
That said, we love creating cookies that complement your theme and can coordinate designs that bring the vibe without crossing any copyright lines.
